RECIPE OF ZARDA IN ENGLISH | URDU - HOW TO COOK ZARDA IN ENGLISH | URDU

Ingredients

  • Rice Saila, soaked for 6-7 hours 3 cups
  • Sugar 2 1/2 cups
  • Milk 1 cup
  • Cloves 4
  • Pistachios, finely chopped 10
  • Almonds, finely chopped 10
  • Cardamoms 6-8
  • Yellow food color 1/2 tsp
  • Colored ashrafies few, cut in twos
  • Ghee 1 cup
  • Water

Cooking Directions

  1. Bring water to boil in a large pan, add drained rice, 2 cloves and 3 cardamoms.
  2. When rice is almost done, strain in a colander and leave in colander for a few minutes.
  3. Turn the rice out in a large open bowl.
  4. Mix in the food color, milk, nuts, sugar and ashrafies.
  5. Heat oil in a large pan, add cardamom and cloves and rice.
  6. Stir with a wooden spoon, cover and cook on high heat for five minutes.
  7. Then put the pan on a tawa and put on heat.
  8. Lower heat after a few minutes, leave till rice is done.
  9. Serve hot or cold.
